Moxie Java TV ads

February 12th, 2008 Posted in Uncategorized

Anyone else seen the commercial that Moxie Java has been running lately? A quick google search doesn’t turn up much – except an article I remember reading a while back by Brian on Idaho Ad Agencies that I really couldn’t agree more with. I had to dig a little deeper and found it on youtube. Who is doing the advertising for Moxie Java these days anyway?

The latest television installment shows 2 scruffy white guys trying to sing some terrible poorly composed hip-hop/R & B song. Apparently they are comparing their delicious coffee to some pretty girl that disappeared on one of them? If you love it so much it’s going to go away? I don’t get it. But I’m not here to complain about not getting it. My problem is how terribly edited the entire video is. While the camera operation isn’t bad – just a little over the top artsy with all the weird shots and angles – they apparently couldn’t find actors who actually know how to lipsync. Most every shot looks like the actors are singing some entirely different song. Of course, I still can’t really blame the actors for this (maybe they had bad cue cards). I think if more time had been spent on the editing process of this video they should have been able to sync the audio and video a bit closer together.

Does anyone know who is actually in charge of this Moxie Java madness? Obviously this is my opinion. What is yours?
