Sharing The Love

I just received this email from a cousin who I haven’t seen in many years and thought I’d pass this on. She is walking in a benefit to help people with disabilities like her sister Michele. I do know Michele and she really is “awesome”. I normally wouldn’t but I think this is a great benefit, so I thought I’d share it here. This is her email:

I am participating in Easter Seals Washington’s first annual Walk With Me.  It will be held on June 7th, 2008 at Riverfront Park. 

I am walking for people with disabilities and families in need.

I am walking because there are many people like my sister who deserve to have all the experiences that we take for granted.  Easter Seals will be giving my sister a computer so she can expand on her interests to learn to spell and hopefully get her interested in other subjects.  For those of you who don’t know Michele, she is awesome.  Now imagine that 20% of the population has a physical, mental, cognitive, social, and/or learning disability that challenges them.  Easter Seals provides access to computers and other necessary technology for people with disabilities, a week at a fully accessible camp, sessions with a speech pathologists, classes for parents a families members to improve their knowledge of their childs challenges, fully inclusive child care centers, workforce development, and so on.

Please support my efforts by donating to Easter Seals Washington.  A gift of $10, $20, or whatever amount you can give will greatly impact those in need in our community.  You can do this by going to my fundraising page at www.walkwithme.org/spokane then click on ‘Sponsor a Walker.’  Your donations will be recognized and they are 100% tax deductible.
