First Week At New Job

May 4th, 2008 Posted in Uncategorized

So I have a job now. I’ve been meaning to write about it all week, but just haven’t gotten to it. Hopefully this won’t be a trend and I can keep to updating things around here more often. So here’s the skinny on my first week:

I am now working as the Web Designer for Rouse Advertising. I love the advertising business much the same as the entertainment biz, so things are working out pretty well so far. I’ve got a cool boss who I can tell is also pretty jazzed about what he does, and work with another younger graphic designer who has some pretty creative and fresh ideas. I’m looking forward to the great advertising concepts I think this team will be coming up with in the future.

This past week I have spent working mostly on a website for an envelope company. The design was already put together and approved before I started and has proved to be a little difficult in the coding department, but I’m confidant that I will be able to get it working soon. I’m definitely looking forward to designing sites from the ground up, since they are much easier for me to put together since I can think about how they will be implemented while I’m in the design process. Rouse Advertising also just put a fancy new kiosk in the mall called Info – Globe. It’s upstairs next to the Starbucks and I incourage everyone to stop by when you’re in the are and check it out. It has backlit advertisements, brochures and 4 video monitors with advertiser commercials on a loop. It also has a computer kiosk with internet access and I had the pleasure of designing the main screen with all of the advertiser links on it. While you’re there send me an email from the kiosk and let me know your thoughts!

So there is a lot of cool new goings on the city with some neat groups, meet-ups etc. This should turn out to be a pretty exciting summer!
